Has Galloway been appointed BBC Head of News?

BBC2 Newsnight tonight was just about the end. Hezbollah messages from start to finish. Not the slightest attempt at balance. Mena TV could hardly have done a better job.

I am fuming. I can't put it better than What the hell is the Conservative shadow spokesman on 'Culture, Media and Sport' (heaven help us - dontcha hate that?) doing about this openly biased propaganda at licence payers' expense? And the BBC World Service - directly funded by government - is even worse. Practically every BBC news and current affairs programme is propagandising for Hezbollah now, and it's becoming more blatant as this war proceeds. The BBC always describes Israel as 'attacking Lebanon' - when in fact Israel is attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon... in defence against lethal, criminal attacks which are in fact war crimes -since civilians are deliberately targetted indiscriminately - and part of the Iran-led policy of genocide. (Read Ahmadinejad's speech today in Malaysia.) It's a litany of 'Israel bombs civilians', mostly without mention - except as an allegation made by Israel - of the fact of Hezbollah's policy of placing heavy weapons in civilian buildings against international law. Their reporters allow Hezbollah PR men to tell them what to film - or else they are not allowed to film. They do not say this in their broadcasts, as they should - and as they did in the Iraq action. They talk about war crimes, but only relating to Israel which, on the contrary, has stuck scrupulously to the Geneva convention in this war. They didn't mention the pro-Israel demo in London, but gave all the meeting details for the pro-Hezbollah demo. This is an extraordinary level of selective editing. Who is pulling the BBC's strings? Who is leaning on whom? This is not just the normal level of bias - it positively smells of unseen pressure. It's as thought George Galloway has been appointed temporary head of news at the BBC. He would arrange things exactly like this. I am not a Jew. I have no Jewish acquaintances. I have no connections whatever with Israel. I just recognise gross injustice when I see it.

I want facts, which I no longer get from the BBC, which I no longer trust.

  1. At one point I thought that the BBC could be reformed by privatising it (something which should have been done decades ago). Now I'm with Sean Gabb: the rot has gone too far and it needs to be shut down entirely.

  2. Actually, I think all can be rectified by a change of name to the Baathist Broadcasting Corporation.... Then its bias will match its name.

    If it was any other channel, sure, but I have to pay for the BBC even if I choose to change that channel and THAT is unacceptable.

  6. Thank you for the link. That particular Newsnight broadcast was disgracefully biased (more so than usual.)

    Before that, I had been watching Time Trumpet and then switched over. It was a somewhat surreal moment where I wondered whether this was still the same program, and all a joke.

  8. It's not just the British media folks!
    I am staggered by the blatant pro-Hezbollah bias in the Irish media too!
    The Irish Independant, the Herald, the Metro and even the Irish Times (a little less biased) appear to be an extension of the Iranian Propaganda Ministry.
    TV is the same, if you talk to almost any Irish person there has been a hate of Israel and Jews indoctrinated into them.
