So, tell me...

Why is this bloke whatsisname... Kennedy... so important that multiple obits from Americans unknown to the British people, and every detail of the planning of his obsequies, are dominating the British Broadcasting Corporation's news bulletins on all its many, many domestic channels for days on end? Am I supposed to be wearing black? Are flags supposed to be at half mast?

What did I miss? Anyone?

  1. He was a complete and utter bastard who should have been locked up or executed 40 years ago for abandoning a young woman in a car which he drove off a bridge into a river and left her to drown. He was also one of, if not THE biggest fundraisers for the IRA and helped to keep that pot boiling for many years. So, quite frankly, P, I'm glad the bastard's dead but he got off far too lightly!

  2. Because a compliant media now has the opportunity to eulogise Kennedy, ad nauseam, and thu savoid dealing too loudly with the Patients' Association highlighting crap service in the NHS; the Dannatt story and yet more deaths of soldiers in Afghanistan; dealing with 'It was'nae me' Brown's cowardice on the al-Megrahi issue; reporting the fact that indicators say we are the slowest to come out of recession; things like the Toshiba factory buggering off to Poland causing more unemployment here; reminding us of the phased Royal Mail strikes and, now, Liverpool Council workers getting stroppy.

    Need I go on?

  3. He may have been a vicious corrupt womanizing homicidal drunk who detested Britain, but he was one of the Righteous and therefore incapable of criticism, hence the eulogy.
