The Treasury "Red Book", the publication that accompanies each budget, had grown under Labour into a government public relations brochure, with pictures of happy children, contented citizens and various beneficiaries of government munificence featuring on the front. Even the Red Book cost more under Brown and for wholly political reasons. How much exactly did the book itself cost to produce, I wonder? Maybe that could be a written Question to Treasury ministers.
