The Polish Prime Minister is murmuring, apparently, about 'war within ten years' if the Eurozone.collapse should lead to the break-up of the EU.
Those of us who, right from the start, feared and warned that the Euro was an impossibly insane scheme which would inevitably end in tears - or worse - are not enjoying the increased likelihood being proved right.
Well, maybe just a tiny bit.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Prodicus here, Mr Eugenides. Being right doesn't compensate for warnings of war when you have a teenage son. Best wishes to both from a sunny, strike-ridden Athens by the way.
ReplyDeleteWell, hopefully not war. I think there is a general misunderstanding across the EU nations that it is the EU that has preserved the peace in Europe since the end of World War 2. Personally, I thought it was NATO, and as far as I can see, the break-up of the EU won't result in the break-up of NATO.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I could be wrong.
